Mystuff pro review software# Additionally there was a need for small, modular software components (now known as JavaBeans) that could be packaged into a single file and imported into an integrated development environment (IDE) - such as Symantec's Visual Café, IBM's Visual Age, or JBuilder by Inprise (the company formerly known as Borland). Mystuff pro review zip file# Sun settled first on the zip file format as defined by PKWARE, and the core Java classes are still distributed in zip format. This small overhead becomes a big performance issue as the number of files that must be downloaded increases.įrom the beginning, a mechanism was needed to simplify deployment of these classes and improve performance. Anyone familiar with the HTTP protocol knows that a separate HTTP request must be made for every file. A Java developer can end up with a heavily populated directory structure that often must be made available over the Internet. The Java language makes it easy for the developer to pull together a great many resources and objects for building software. You need to know the pros and cons and what you want to accomplish with your Java program before you decide whether or not to use jar files. They also have drawbacks - including potentially longer download times, the need to put in extra work to retrieve resources, and a lack of universal support. Jar files are an excellent tool to help overcome some of the hurdles that Java faces, such as packaging software and making a program trusted. These gotchas can affect most aspects of your project - from how you write your code, to the service your end-users get. Before you open a jar of worms, you should know some of the gotchas involved in using these files. Mystuff pro review archive# I had to insure the boxes and referred to the app to determine their value. With browsers that support Java 1.1.x gaining in market share, more developers will be exploring the use of Java Archive (jar) files. I also created a handy list of all the contents of my boxes (as well as their values) for moving inventory. Mystuff pro review pdf# When moving house, I filtered for things that I had labeled for sale but not gone, and e-mailed a PDF to the person running my moving sale. I found it useful to create a location called “gone” for things I had donated, lost, sold or given away. You also can mark your new item as being at home or in storage, and say whether you need to repair it or you lent it to a friend or donated it (very helpful at tax time!). From there, for example, you can add a new item to your music library, specify the format, artist and title, and take a picture (or 30) without having to edit the category. The app comes with a few categories, locations and actions already programmed. You can keep track of less tangible categories, such as concerts you’ve attended or progress on a book project, by adding databases. You can scan barcodes to pull upinformation from Amazon such as stock photos and prices and upload data from other apps, such as Book Crawler, where you might have already started inventorying your things. You can change the information collected for each category (such as manufacturers’ names for your electronics or the artist of each artwork, and the number of copies you have left of your band’s CD). With MyStuff2 Pro, you can customize categories, locations and actions, as well as add subcategories (what kind of clothing?) and action phases (for sale or sold?) to your heart’s content. I thought that, though pricey at $8.99, it was worth the cost (a free version has a cap of 15 items a mid-level version requires extra payment to keep multiple databases, export Excel spreadsheets and customize color). I had already inventoried some books with a program called Book Crawler and tried other apps for cataloguing my music and crafts supplies, but this one does it all. I purchased MyStuff2 to keep track of my household belongings and things I was selling. At least, I’m aware I’ve owned more than 1,727 items in the past year. Finally, with the help of MyStuff2 Pro, I am. I’ve always wanted to be better organized.

We already have some bugzillas on the books which mention Karaf, but I would be delighted if you raised enhancement bugs for other Karaf capabilities that Virgo is missing. Meanwhile, running Blueprint alongside Spring DM is a good way of running blueprint apps in Virgo.Īs for Apache Karaf, yes there are several nice features that Virgo could learn from. On the other hand, it could be a relatively easy drop-in replacement. There may turn out to be a fair amount of work to do because of the close integration of the kernel with Spring DM. #LOGTAIL ARIES UPGRADE# I understand the first release of Gemini Blueprint is not too far away, so that will free us up to upgrade Spring DM 1.2.1 to Gemini Blueprint (which includes Spring DM 2.0 function). We need Gemini Blueprint to release before we can consume it in a Virgo release. Thanks for 'surfacing' the discussion in bug 317943.Īs promised, your blog is now linked from the Virgo home page. Overall, Gemini Blueprint on Virgo works great, just as advertised, and I have yet to hit any edge cases. Get project updates, sponsored content from our select partners, and more. If Gemini Blueprint can support those in the future, or better yet: standardize them, it'd be great. logtail-v3 Reviews Brought to you by: ross-stuff. On other project I use Blueprint 'Compendium', it seems like Aries' 'proprietary' extension on OSGi Blueprint, specifically these namespaces: I just happen to have those (SpringSource EBR version) lying around so I'm a bit lucky. Then Aries needed 3 more JARs: asm, asm.tree, asm.commons. I hope Virgo will also integrate these features, to which Borislav has confirmed that Virgo 3.0 will release with Felix GoGo + SSH integration! (oh yeah!)Īctually, installing Gemini is much less troublesome than Aries because I only had to put 3 bundles (io, core, extender, pretty intuitive) without no missing external dependency.įor Aries Blueprint, I needed 3 Aries bundles (aries.blueprint, aries.proxy, and aries.util), the latter two are not so intuitive to infer that they're blueprint's dependencies but perhaps it's because Aries modules (as a whole) are more cohesive than Gemini subprojects. Though particularly for my sample case, Apache Karaf won big (not to brag the competition, but hoping it would be a constructive feedback to Virgo team) due to well-integrated Felix GoGo, SSH server, Apache Aries as OSGi Blueprint implementation, and also good logging that can be inspected right inside console/SSH (Karaf shell commands like log:tail). So do you want Blueprint support in Virgo ? If so, please comment/vote on and maybe you can help too by testing/developing/etc. In my sample case Gemini Blueprint 1.0.0.M1 ran without problems in Virgo 3.0.0.M5! Yay! I also created a sample PDE plug-in project openly accessible in GitHub: #LOGTAIL ARIES HOW TO# I blogged a tutorial on how to integrate Felix GoGo, SSH, and OSGi Blueprint (Gemini Blueprint, but working instructions for Apache Aries also available) with Eclipse Virgo Web Server here: Glyn Normington suggested me to create this thread so other Virgo users would benefit this information.
